The brutal save of Axel Bassani in the WSBK: he raised his Ducati Panigale V4 R and left Álvaro Bautista amazed

The World Superbike round that took place last weekend at Donington Park left us one of those memorable images. The Italian Axel Bassani, who is making his debut this year in the premier class of the world championship, made an anthological save of those that remain in the annals of motorcycle history.

Bassani has published on his social networks some photos of what that moment was like and has made some comments about it. And it is that you can see perfectly how the degree of inclination of his Ducati Panigale V4 R was inhuman, the pilot was practically on the ground, but pulling on his elbows he was able to lift it.

Bautista congratulated Bassani on Twitter on his save

"Everyone tells me it was an epic save... I think I have an epic bike, epic TEAM and some decent skills...!! Thank you all for the messages! Happy that you enjoyed it as much as I did," Bassani commented on Twitter while posting a couple of photos of the moment in question.

In the photos you can see how the person who was chasing him at that moment was none other than Álvaro Bautista, who from his perspective he only saw how Bassani went to the ground and he passed in front with his Honda CBR1000RR-R. Or so Bautista thought, because reality had been quite different for the Italian.

"When I saw that you hadn't fallen, I couldn't believe it. Great save", Bautista replied with surprised faces afterwards. The images allow you to perfectly see how the Italian throws his elbow to the ground to lift a Ducati Panigale V4 R that weighs around 200 kilos. Bassani was heroic.

Dampness on the track reigned throughout the round of the Superbikes in Great Britain, with several sessions and even some races in which the wet tire had to be used. But in this case we see how Bassani had dry rubber, and it seems that the loss of control of his Ducati was due to some riding error.

Bassani's first season in the Superbike World Championship has been quite good. Until now his record was limited to three seasons, some not even complete, in Supersport without ever getting on the podium, and a very ephemeral stint in Moto2 that did not bode well for his promotion to Superbikes.

However, after four rounds he has already managed to be in the top ten four times, three of them at Misano. There he came to conclude the Superpole Race in sixth position, his best result to date. A solid season that is seasoned with a save for the history of motorcycles.
