A Newborn Girl Is Abandoned In A Field In India; puppies protected her from the cold

A newborn baby girl was abandoned in a field in India and managed to survive a night out in the cold thanks to a pack of puppies that kept her warm. The girl was found the next day in the Saristal village of Lormi, in the Indian province of Chhattisgarh, by some locals who were alerted by her crying.

According to the Daily Mail, when they arrived at the scene the baby was curled up next to the puppies, completely unharmed. It is estimated that the mother of the cubs was the one who found her initially and lay down next to her to protect her and maintain her temperature.

The locals who found her detailed that she was naked and that she still had her umbilical cord. Munnalal Patel, the local village representative, said a group on their way to do their daily chores found the baby around 11 a.m. “We saw that there was a crying newborn girl lying next to some puppies in our town,” revealed one of the neighbors.

“We panicked and informed the health department before the newborn was taken to the hospital for examination,” she explained. The tender image of the baby lying next to the puppies went viral through social networks.

“Possibly the warmth of the puppies and their own mother is what has kept this newborn alive,” said another local, adding that it was “pure luck” that the baby, whom they named Akanksha, survived all night. In that area of India the temperature drops drastically when the sun goes down, especially at this time of year.

When they found out about Akanksha, they immediately contacted a branch of local government known as the Panchayat, a sort of communal council. That's when she got involved with the police, who arrived a short time later and took the baby to the hospital so that doctors could examine her. They also informed the Child Line project about the situation, which works to protect the rights of all children in India, especially in the most vulnerable sectors of the Asian country.

Premnath, another resident of the area, said it was a true "miracle" that the little girl survived all night surrounded by street dogs. And he did not hesitate to criticize the parents who made the decision to abandon her. "They are not parents, they are delinquents," he said. It's a miracle that a newborn baby survives when stray dogs lurk occasionally late at night."

The investigation into this unfortunate event that is sweeping the world is ongoing. The police have not yet been able to find the whereabouts of Akanksha's parents, but the girl is fortunately in good health.
