My dear popcorn fans! 'Stay, Mr Marshall': Asier Aparicio triumphs with the great theatrical comedy. The International Theater Book Fair, held in the Valle Inclán in Madrid from November 10 to 13, is an inexcusable event every year to immerse yourself in the world of the national scene. In addition to the usual classics, you can find novelties by authors who continue to create and believe, sometimes against all odds, in the power of dramaturgy.Berlanga, also immortal in the theater! 'Stay, Mr Marshall': Asier Aparicio triumphs with the great theatrical comedy

I went there and discovered an author, Asier Aparicio, who on the anniversary of Don Luis García Berlanga –of whom we have already informed from those screens– he offers us his work Stay, Mr. Marshall, a comedy that has been awarded the Second Prize for the Irreverent Comedy Award in its latest edition. Below I report the synopsis of this fun proposal, but first, a brief review of this versatile author, who has been writing since he was 17 years old.

About the playwright

Asier Aparicio Fernández (1976) was born in the Basque Country, but since he was a child he has lived in Palencia. Graduated in Theology and Diploma in Social Education, he currently works as a teacher of Language and Literature in High School.

To his credit, no less than 60 plays, 6 novels (one of them, The Angel on the Waves, received the Villiers L'Isle Adam Award for Fantastic Novel), 2 books of short stories, 2 books of poetry , and a saga of children's adventures starring the elf Windolino. He has also participated in numerous anthologies and published three music albums with his group Contraste. As you can see, time well spent. Be sure to check out her blog and her website.

But let's talk about your stay, Mr. Marshall. We are in Villar del Río, decades after the popular Berlanga film was shot there. Its inhabitants receive the terrible news of the main company in the town, in the hands of an American multinational, which has decided to close it.

Faced with the imminent catastrophe, the "living forces" of the place devise a plan to save their future... if possible with the congratulations of their "benefactors". The problem of our “emptied Spain” – the other day we talked about a short film about it – in a humorous way. Sounds good right? Come on everyone read it!
