The Civil Guard prevents the sale of 'esclata-sangs' if they are not labelled

At the beginning of this year, at least two establishments that did not meet the requirements for the sale of local asparagus were identified during an inspection carried out in the municipality of Ferreries. The complaint and the warning that health guarantees should be provided for the marketing of this product through the labelling demonstrating traceability and the invoice for the operation has led to the fact that these shops are refraining from selling another claimed product such as indigenous mushrooms this season.

Manel Juanico, responsible for SaLuna in Ferreries, explains how the agents made him destroy asparagus in his presence with bleach to prevent them from being marketed. The same procedure followed in Ca Na Clara, also in that municipality. His responsible, Joan Bosco Morlà, asked whether he had for sale esclata-sangs responded yesterday to a resounding "they Don't let us". He regrets not having "more information" as the "demand exists", he says, which is why he is being forced this season to bring mushrooms from outside from Mercabarna, as there is no distributor of that particular product on the island.

Self-supply seems the best option, but it should not be overlooked that it is possible to purchase local sclata-sangs at some points of sale. This is the case of Maria Caymaris, who, being the owner of an estate with which she supplies her stop at Sa Plaça de Maó, is not obliged to submit invoices as she is a proprietary product. In this sense, as far as the practice of finding mushrooms by individuals is concerned, it criticises' that many go into locs that are not their own'.

It should also be noted that payers who are discharged can take their products to the points of sale in compliance with the above conditions so that it can be shown that everything is in order in the event of an inspection.

Compliance with regulations is always important when it comes to food, and especially if we are talking about a product as particular as mushrooms, in which knowing its traceability is particularly important.

On the website of the Conseilleria de Salud y Consumación del Govern, it is limited to giving a few tips in this regard. Among them is "to avoid consuming mushrooms collected by other people if you are not absolutely certain that they are experts in the subject".
