Solidarity wave for the victims of the eruption of La Palma SELECTION

In the last few hours, several solidarity initiatives have been launched, such as collecting clothes and belongings, or food for animals. A bank account has also been activated to centralize donations through Bizum

The drama of hundreds of people who have been left or will end up being left homeless and without their livelihood due to the eruption of the volcano in La Palma has given way to a wave of solidarity.

Numerous campaigns have been launched to collect belongings and food and to attract donations during these days in which the slow but unstoppable advance of the lava towards the sea is leaving devastating images.

All the initiatives have a common denominator: collecting basic necessities, as well as clothing and belongings for those who have lost everything.

And in that who also includes animals, since there are numerous initiatives underway to help the protectors of La Palma.

The Cabildo de La Palma, in collaboration with CaixaBank, has set up an account and the Bizum payment system to centralize financial donations from individuals and companies for those affected by the volcano.

This initiative is launched after receiving "multiple requests" to collaborate with affected families, the Cabildo points out in a note.

People who want to make a donation through Bizum must access the 'Send donation' tab and enter the code 03747. In this case, the maximum amount of total daily donation per person is 2,000 euros, which can be paid in several operations, with a limit of 500 euros per transaction.

The bank account number authorized to formalize national donations through bank transfer is ES47 2100 9169 0122 0017 9456, while in the case of international donations it is CAIXESBBXXX.

When making the donation, it must be indicated in the concept 'Volcano Donation'. In case they want to record their help, they can register their NIF or DNI number and company name or name and surname.

Institutions, groups and individuals join the initiative

The Government of Spain has asked the banks to make the flats that are empty available to these people.

The Yaiza City Council, in Lanzarote, is organizing a collection, as is UGT Canarias, both in Tenerife and Gran Canaria.

On these two islands there are various collection points in commercial establishments, as in most of the 14 municipalities of La Palma.

UD Las Palmas also participated in this wave of solidarity by sending sportswear, and a mixed friendly with UD Granadilla, CD Tenerife, "at the entire disposal" of those affected, or the teams, or Villa of Santa Brígida de Gran Canaria.

A murga from Tenerife, Ni Muchas Ni Pocas, organizes a solidarity collection and the Albacete Red Cross announces a campaign of donations for the victims of La Palma on social networks.

And in times when social networks prevail, there are influencers such as the comedian Kike Pérez or 'players' who will dedicate part of the proceeds on Twitch, to individuals who ask where there are donation points on their islands or resident canaries in the peninsula who offer to travel to their land with their suitcases loaded with donations for the victims.
