We have all experienced that moment when after doing the laundry and going to iron you realize that there is a stain that has not disappeared.

We give you some tips to remove the most difficult stains from your clothes and make them look like new.

The first thing to treat the stain before

No matter how good your washing machine is, it's not magic, so it's much better if you locate stubborn stains before putting the clothes in and rub them with soap or a specific product, even on delicate garments (leather, silk, wool and linen), use Detergent only, no stain remover. And better if you put a little detergent on the cuffs and collars of the shirts.

Types of stain removers and washing machine temperature

There are different stain removers, do not mix them to avoid adverse reactions, it is best to apply them with a cloth on the stain and following the manufacturer's recommendations.

Those that have active oxygen enhance the action of the detergent and are ideal for fruit, wine and coffee stains and for grease there are very effective degreasers for oil, grease and even make-up.

It is also important to choose the appropriate program in the washing machine, for this you must look at the label of the garment. Try to classify it into white and colored and separate delicate garments from those that are very dirty. The ideal is to put the washing machine at a low temperature (30 degrees) and with liquid detergent, powder dissolves worse in cold water.

Stains on colored clothes and on white clothes and delicate fabrics

It is very expensive to remove stains on white clothes and it also tends to turn yellow over time. To avoid this, use a detergent with active oxygen that will help the clothes recover their original whiteness.

If you have a garment with a very persistent stain, soak it for one hour in water with three tablespoons of baking soda per liter, then wash it as usual.

For very resistant stains, lemon works well, spray the stain with a little juice and hang it in the sun.

In colored clothes, in addition to ending the stain, we must not damage the color, to do this, put the washing machine with clothes of similar colors, do not wash them in hot water or they will lose color and wash the clothes inside out to protect the color.

As for delicate fabrics, sometimes it is not possible to add stain removers because they end up damaging them.

In the case of silk, wash the stain with warm water and liquid soap, let it act and then wash the garment as usual. For coffee stains, egg yolk with water works well.

For food stains

They are the most difficult to remove, it is important to try to remove them as soon as possible.

For oil ones, it is good to cover them with talcum powder or salt and leave to act, then rub with dish soap and wash as usual.

Use hydrogen peroxide with water for wine stains and use a mixture of milk and salt for fruit stains, impregnate the stain, let it dry and then wash as usual.

Lemon is effective for chocolate stains, and a mixture of rubbing alcohol, vinegar, and water will remove coffee stains.

Grass and gum stains

For grass stains, it will be enough to soak them with white vinegar before putting the garment in the washing machine. If the stains still don't go away, rub them with rubbing alcohol and wash again.

And if you have gum stuck to something, put it in the freezer or rub it with an ice cube so that it hardens and remove it with a knife or put parchment paper on top and pass the hot iron, the gum will stick to the paper.

Hairspray and milk for ink stains

They are one of the most difficult to remove, those with a pen or marker usually leave them soaking in milk overnight.

The pen ones can be sprayed on the right and back with lacquer, let them dry and then rub with water and detergent.

If all this fails you, try a cotton swab dipped in alcohol.
