1“Now you can leave”

An essential song on the playlists of everyone who has ended a relationship. This song made Luis Miguel the youngest artist to have a Top Hit on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks. The Sun was only 17 years old.

This song is part of his album Soy como quiero ser from 1987. However, it was 25 years ago when Dusty Springfield sang “I Only Want To Be With You” for the first time.

That's right, in 1963 the success was born in English and has gone through other languages, such as French.

A year later, in the rush of success, one of Luis Miguel's most successful songs reached our ears... is it about friendship, love or tenderness?

2“La incondicional”

It is written by Juan Carlos Calderón López de Arróyabe, better known as Juan Carlos Calderón, who was a Spanish composer, arranger and producer.

In addition, Calderón collaborated with other artists such as Ricky Martín, Sin Bandera, Julio Iglesias, Chayanne, Cristian Castro, among many others.

The composer worked hand in hand with LuisMi on several occasions, on many hits, as many as versions of who the true “Unconditional” is. The album that included this great song was "Busca una Mujer" from 1989.

The boom of the song was immense and it has not lost its validity. In 2008, the VH1 channel placed it in the number one place of the 80's hits in Spanish, but all this was surpassed only by... the video clip!

OMG! Seeing Luis Miguel cut his hair and leave behind the abundant hair that everyone fell in love with, what love does! Or rather heartbreak.

3“Could it be that you don't love me”

Who are behind the letters and songs by Luis Miguel?

What do Luis Miguel and Michael Jackson have in common? A song! And it's also one of our favourites.

The song was written by Mick Jackson in 1978, another Jackson from another lesser-known family. However, a year later, the melody captivated the Michael we all know, along with his brothers. The Jackson 5 had one of their biggest hits with "Blame It on the Boogie."

About 12 years later, Juan Carlos Calderón, the Spaniard behind Luis Miguel's songs, translated it and presented it to Micky. The rest "we already danced it". The song was part of the album 20 years of 1990.

The net is that the version of Michael Jackson and his brothers is very good, perhaps more than with LuisMi, but that is already to everyone's taste.

4“I don't know about you”

The following year, one of Mexico's greatest artists came into the life and career of Sol: the maestro Armando Manzanero.

Written in 1986, the song was the insignia of the Romance album, the same one that Michelle Salas mocks in the third chapter of the series for the lack of originality of the name.

It is worth mentioning that there were three albums whose titles were derived from the “mother” album, although the simple truth was that the first one was the best seller. The figure: 7 million copies, all that was needed to revive the bolero genre and keep it current.

We recommend: A tragedy, Marcela, Michelle Salas and a funeral

We must tell you that Manzanero continued to collaborate with LuisMi. But not everything was honey on ojuelas, since this relationship that started very well ended very badly.

The teacher went so far as to say that it was “easier to put an elephant through the eye of a needle than to provoke Luis Miguel to do something for others”. Ouch.

Their last collaboration was in 2001, with the album Mis Romances; however it was not the last meeting of her. In 2016 Manzanero made a new statement about the Sun, all because of the problems about a tour that he was going to do with Alejandro Fernández, but which was finally cancelled.

It should be noted that the idea of looking for Manzanero came from Luis Miguel himself. El Sol preferred to put aside the plans of his King Midas, the Spanish Juan Carlos Calderón.

In the first chapters of the second part of the bioseries of the son of Luisito Rey, we see, between myths and winks, the development of his album Aries, from 1993.

5“Until you forget me” and “Suave”

Love-hate relationship between Kiko Cibrián and Luis Miguel? Here we clarify it for you.

In this note we tell you two versions of the origin of “Until You Forget Me”: the one put forward by Netflix and the one by Donkey Van Rankin.

But now we come to “Suave”, because we are fans of the series and because here we discover a new character that musically changed Luis Miguel: the guitarist, composer and producer Ignacio Kiko Cibrián.

Born in Tijuana, the son of a mariachi musician, Kiko dreamed of being a studio musician, until one day, a friend of a friend told him that Luis Miguel was looking for a guitarist, which encouraged Cibrián to travel to Mexico City.

Weeks later, with all the songs learned and without sheet music, the guitarist met the Sun, and yes, both fell captive, Luis Miguel with Kiko's audition, and this one with the look and personality of the performer.

The two toured together, and it seems the Viña del Mar incident is just fiction.

Ignacio himself recounts that after participating in the tour he went to San Diego, where he was invited to participate in the album of an artist who promised great talent and who was also the son of a famous actress and presenter. That's how he met the rebel Cristian Castro.

6“You won't be able to”, the song of discord

This is very confirmed. Cibrián produced the güero's album, which included his hit “No podrás”

After participating with Castro (Cristian Valdés in the series. The name refers to his father, El Loco Valdés), Luis Miguel's manager at the time, Hugo López, called the guitarist to scold him, but that same call included a great invitation: to make the young man's new album.

Kiko took all the musical references he shared with Luis Miguel and after he asked him if he knew how to write songs, “Suave” was born.

Cibrián confessed that at that moment he did not need a representative or manager, despite the fact that nobody bet on him as a producer, he was just a guitarist with some experience with Castro, "El Sol" always defended him, leaving aside to Calderon and Manzanero.

Aries features three songs by Cibrián: “Suave”, “Hasta el fin” and “Dame tu amor”. In addition, the Cuban-American composer Rudy Pérez, who has written more than 1,000 songs for artists such as José Feliciano, Luis Fonsi, and the rival (according to the series) of the Sun, Cristian Castro, participates.

The number of songs written by Pérez is compared to another great in terms of writing and hits, Juan Gabriel.

Luis Miguel won with this album, recorded in California, a Grammy for best Latin pop album.

After this account about the origins of Luis Miguel's songs, we can continue in peace (and well informed) with the next installment of the series.
