Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced on Friday, 28 January, a $700 million (A $1 billion) funding plan to protect the Great barrier Reef. This nine-year programme comes months after the Australian government barely prevented the Great barrier from being included by UNESCO on the "endangered" heritage list due to the deterioration of the ecosystem caused by climate change.
